Term 4, Week 2

Levi has been in Room 2!

On Friday we went to assembly. We were sitting up so nicely and listening that we got Levi! We were so excited because we have been trying to win him all year! We have had him in Room 2 for the whole week. We have also had the blue bear with us, who we have called Bluey. We get to hold Levi and Blue Bear when we read a story. It has been fun having him in our room. We love Levi!

Term 4, Week 1

Kia ora whanau!
Welcome back to Room 2's blog!

It's Term 4 and we are very excited about all the things we get to learn about this term!

This term in inquiry, our question is:

For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction!

How can we use the force to create a successful fitness course?

This week in inquiry we have been learning about what parts of our body we use when we play on the playground.

We played on the playground with a buddy, and then we talked about what parts of our body we used for each activity.

I was doing pull ups on the bar and I was using my hands and arms (Tevita)

I was on the balance board and I was using my legs, and my arms to balance (Hannah)

I was climbing up the pole and I was using my hands and feet, and arms and legs (Samiu)

Next Friday we are going on a school trip to Mind Lab which we are very excited about!

Get Set Go!

This term we have had Get Set Go every Wednesday.

We have been learning how to catch and throw.

This Wednesday, we were throwing and catching the bean bags (Abi). We threw the bean bags into the hoops.
We were in 2 groups and we threw the bean bags to each other (Deijah and Corjzae)

We also threw the ball to the other kids around the circle (Siah). We all held hands and made a big circle (Deijah and Samiu).

Here is Georgia showing us how to throw properly

Now it's our turn to try!

Waitangi is showing us how he can throw

Get Set Go is great (Abi)
Get Set Go is good (Chanelle)
Doing Get Set Go makes us fit, strong, and healthy (Kaiya).

Daffodil Day

Today it was Daffodil Day.

Daffodil Day is all about people who are sick and have Cancer (Isla).

We wore yellow clothes to school and we also got a yellow daffodil to wear on our t-shirts. We looked great in our yellow!

We brought some money to school for the sick people and we put it on the big daffodil. The money goes to the sick people to help them get better. SPS raised $700!!

Some of us wrote about Daffodil Day, and we will take some photos of our stories and put them on our blog very soon!

Term 3 so far!

Term 3

We have had a busy term so far doing lots of learning! Here are just a few of the things we have been up to!

Inquiry

In inquiry we have been learning about things being unfair and fair (Emmanuel).

We read a story about the Sneetches. The Sneetches were sad because they didn't have stars on their bellies, and the sneetches with stars left the others out.

We learnt that it doesn't matter if you have stars or not (Abi).

It was fun learning about the Sneetches (Deijah).

Maths

This term, on Fridays at Maths time we are doing problem solving. We have been learning about geometry which is all about shapes and patterns.

A square has 4 sides (Samiu).

A triangle has 3 sides (Christiaan).

A circle has 1 line (Isla).

We put the little shapes and big shapes in patterns. Me and Siah were buddies (Deijah).

Then we had to look at our patterns and draw them (Pauline).

Planting an apple tree

We had a special lesson with Bob. We helped him plant an apple tree.

Then we wrote some stories about planting the apple tree with Bob. Here are some for you to read.

Art with Whaea Dagmar

We had a super fun art lesson with Whaea Dagmar.
She showed us some pictures of people that Joan Miro had made, and then we drew and painted our own !
We are really proud of our artwork, thanks Whaea Dagmar!

Chefs visit SPS!

Last Friday we had some chefs visit us and they brought us some food! They showed us how to make a wrap and some granola, and then we got to eat our own!

The wrap was crunchy and yummy. The granola was sweet.

We loved having the chefs come to Room 2!
Thank you Chefs!
