Anzac Day Dawn Service

What is Anzac Day and why do we celebrate it?

This week we have been thinking about the Anzac soldiers that died in World War 1. Thousands of people fought for New Zealand. They were fighting against other countries. (Deijah)

We learnt about how the Anzac soldiers went in boats and the other soldiers were hiding on the cliff. (Pauline)
Lots of the Anzac soldiers died because they got shot (Geneva).

We remember the soldiers who died (Isla)
We wear a poppy to remember them (Deijah)
We wear a poppy because the soldiers died in poppy fields where there were lots of poppies (Deijah)

Our Own Anzac Day Dawn Parade

We made a poppy wreath to take to the Anzac service to remember the Anzac soldiers.
We used water colours to paint the poppies and the leaves

The whole school went to the hall for a service to remember the Anzac's.

Whaea Bron sang and then we all joined in.
We also sang the National Anthem (Christiaan).

Pauline and Christiaan held the wreath and put it down in the middle of the hall.

The service was a lovely way to remember those who fought for our freedom.

Playing with Hula Hoops!

We went outside and we played with the hula hoops. Then we came back inside and we wrote about it.

We were spinning the hula hoops (Isla)

I am rolling the hula hoop with my hand (Hannah)

We lifted up the hoops and caught them (Deijah)

We were spinning the hoops on our arms (Hannah and Deijah). If you roll the hula hoop it will come back and you can grab it (Kaiya).

I am rolling the hoop (Abi)

We were swinging the hula hoops in the sky.

We wrote some fantastic stories about playing with the hula hoops! Here are some of us with our published stories.
